Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is the German Federation's top choice to replace Joachim Low as national team coach.

BILD says the DFB wish to keep Low in the job until 2022 and replace him with the Liverpool manager, who has a contract to 2024.

The desired scenario for the DFB is that Low will stay in office until the winter World Cup in Qatar 2022, then retire at the beginning of 2023 and the current manager of Liverpool will then take over.

For his part, Klopp has made it no secret he wishes to coach Germany in the future, though whether he'd be willing to break his current contract is another matter.

The former Borussia Dortmund coach is entering his sixth year at Anfield.
