German football expert Kevin Hitchard has explained that Jurgen Klopp will need to make a decision on Marko Grujic’s future at the end of the season.
He said: “Marko is doing well and I think he’s benefitting from having two seasons with Hertha.
“The big decision for Liverpool is at the end of the season – what do they do with him? Can they convince him that he’s got a pathway to the first team? Because I imagine Hertha and many other clubs will want to try and sign him on a permanent basis.”
The 23-year-old has all the physical tools required to be a success at Liverpool but his temperament is a bit wild and raw which sees him pick up a lot of unnecessary yellow cards.
The Serbian was the first signing Klopp made when he arrived as Liverpool manager in 2015 but he has since only made eight appearances for the Reds.
Currently in the second year of a two-season loan spell with Hertha Berlin, it will be fascinating to see what decision Klopp makes on his future because there is a lot of competition to get into Liverpool’s midfield.
Liverpool’s 2020 summer transfer window seems destined to be a big one and this could involve offloading Grujic if he’s viewed to be surplus to requirements.
