David Wagner told talkSPORT that he believes that Jurgen Klopp is already a Liverpool legend.

“Yeah I think so and he absolutely deserves it,” Wagner said when asked if Klopp is already a Kop icon. “What he has done for the club in this period is amazing and it’s interesting what will be around the corner in the future for them.

“I think he showed last season that he’s able to compete with Pep Guardiola and fight with his team for the title, so hopefully he can do it this season as well. They have a great group together.”

Klopp arrived at Liverpool in 2015 and took the Reds from midtable to narrowly missing out on the Premier League title and winning the Champions League.

He’s transformed the entire club in what might seem like a few short years but the reality is that it’s been a long hard road with upsets and disappointment aplenty.

That said, however, the German manager has never wavered in his positive outlook and will surely depart the club at the end of his reign as a legend.

Already Klopp has his name on banners alongside the likes of Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley and that’s certainly the mark of being an Anfield icon.
