Clubs across Germany have responded after UEFA ruled that Munich's Allianz Arena could not be lit up in rainbow colours when Germany host Hungary on Wednesday.

UEFA — who earlier this week opened and then dropped an investigation into Germany captain Manuel Neuer wearing a rainbow armband during Pride Month — deemed the "political context of the request" to illuminate the stadium an issue and rejected the proposal.

Bayern Munich have since released a statement saying they would have liked the stadium to have been lit up in rainbow colours as "open-mindedness and tolerance are fundamental values" which the club stand for.

And they aren't the only ones to respond, with clubs around Germany announcing that they will light their grounds up in rainbow colours as Wednesday's game takes place, even if the Allianz Arena isn't.

FC Köln

FC Augsburg

Berlin's Olympiastadion

VfL Wolfsburg

And other clubs without the ability to light up their stadiums have will also made their stance known.

SV Werder Bremen

FSV Mainz 05

"Unfortunately we can only light the Arena up in red and white. But we will, of course, take part with the campaign tomorrow!"

FC Schalke 04

FC St Pauli
