Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur has claimed Bayern Munich have offered Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum a three-year contract.

Wijnaldum’s deal at Liverpool expires at the end of the season and the Dutchman is poised to depart Anfield on a free transfer, with Bayern now looking to swoop.

Konur adds that talks are ongoing between Bayern and Wijnaldum in regards to how much he would earn per year in Germany.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Wijnaldum has been an excellent servant to Liverpool over the years and a move to Bayern Munich could be a great step for the Dutch midfielder. The 30-year-old has played well over 200 competitive games for Liverpool and helped them win the Premier League and Champions League since his transfer from Newcastle in 2016. This shows how much he has achieved during his time on Merseyside and, hopefully, Liverpool can appreciate what he has given to the club and give him a respectful send-off if he does depart this summer.

So, if Bayern have offered Wijnaldum a three-year deal as Konur claims, Liverpool fans may be able to be happy for the former Newcastle player. He can go over to the Bundesliga and win some trophies with Bayern in the latter stages of his career, whilst Liverpool will have the chance to dip into the transfer market to sign a younger midfielder who can take his place and be a key player for Jurgen Klopp going forward.
