Gerard Piqué reveals plans to move into management

Barcelona and Spain legend Gerard Piqué has revealed plans to make his foray into coaching.

The former defender called time on a successful 18-year playing career in November 2022 after making a 616th appearance for his boyhood club.

But Piqué admitted on Tuesday that he is preparing to step into management since hanging up his boots little more than 14 months ago.

“It’s a new year and after thinking carefully I have decided to return to football. I miss it a lot,” said Piqué on X, formerly Twitter.

“This time it won’t be as a player. It will be as a coach.

“I’ll share more details at the end of the week.”

Piqué won a combined 36 honours for club and country, including three Champions League and the 2010 World Cup.
