According to a report published by Cat Radio, Gerard Pique has decided not to undergo surgery and has opted for conservative treatment instead.

Pique suffered a shocking injury against Atletico Madrid and had to be substituted off the pitch almost immediately. Later, it was reported that he had two injuries: a sprain that would ideally need 3 months to recover, and a ligament injury, which required further examination.

Regardless, Pique had to make the decision to choose between going through surgery – which would see him out of action for nearly half a year, but make a full recovery, or conservative treatment, where he would be sidelined for an upwards of three months, at least. However, it would come at the cost of partial recovery, and more often that not, it results in a massive dip in form.

That said, the World Cup winner never looked like he had to plans to stick by the sport for a very long time, as he had declared his interest in managing businesses and eventually running for Barcelona Presidency.

Barcelona must continue to trust young players like Oscar Mingueza and Ronald Araujo in the absence of the legendary centre-back, at least until the January transfer window, after which they can continue their pursuit of Eric Garcia from Manchester City.

Ronald Koeman has made it clear several times that he does not trust Samuel Umtiti because of his injury-struck past, and it looks like even Frenkie de Jong is above the Frenchman in the pecking order for centre-back. All said and done, the road ahead is a rocky one for Barcelona, who will be without one of their best, and most experienced players.
