As reported by HLN and others, Malick Fofana is set to be announced as a Lyon player in the near future. Gent are set to sell the highly rated youngster for up to €22m, if bonuses are triggered. There is also the likelihood of a sell on clause included in the deal. Fofana is expected to sign a contract with the struggling Ligue 1 side until 2028.

The 18-year-old is enjoying a real breakout season with Gent, having played 18 league games this season with two goals and three assists. He has also played six times int he Europa Conference League, scoring once. While Gent would have preferred to keep the Belgian youth international for a few more seasons, there was no way they could turn the money on offer from Lyon down. This will make Fofana their second highest sale after Jonathan David moved to Ligue 1 a few seasons ago.
