HLN are reporting that Gent have rejected a €14m offer from Italian side Bologna for striker Hugo Cuypers. The 26-year-old Belgian was the top scorer in the Pro League last season with 27 goals, becoming the first Belgian to finish with the golden boot since Romelu Lukaku at Anderlecht. The striker has already scored three goals in three games this season. Since joining Gent from Mechelen in the summer of 2022, Cuypers has scored an impressive 43 goals in 62 games.
The striker began his career at Standard Liege, but most of his time was spent on loan at RFC Seraing. In 2017, he moved to Greece where he played for Ergotelis and Olympiacos. He struggled to become a regular with the Greek giants, spending the 2019/2020 season on loan at AC Ajaccio. Mechelen brought him back to Belgium in the summer of 2021, and he went on to score 13 goals in 36 games.
Cuypers is not the only striker that is attracting interest at Gent. Gift Orban is the subject of serious interest from Tottenham, with Gent wanting €30m for the Nigerian talent.
