Over the weekend Gent announced the signing of striker Wilfried Kanga from Dinamo Zagreb. The striker cost the Belgian Pro League club around €1.2m and signed a deal until 2028. Kanga is well known to fans of the Pro League, having spent the 2023/2024 campaign on loan at Standard Liege. In 37 games for the side he scored 12 goals.

However, the previous season was far from as successful for the Ivorian striker. He spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Cardiff City, where he struggled to really have any impact. He ended his spell in Wales with no goals scored in 16 appearances. He was taken on by Dinamo Zagreb in January but managed just three goals in 16 games.

Gent are in need of someone who can score goals, and in Kanga they are hoping that he can rediscover the form he showed during his previous spell in the Belgian Pro League.
