Genoa strikers Mateo Retegui and Albert Gudmundsson were both in fine form in front of goal for their respective nations on Thursday evening, as the pair netted five goals between them in international matches involving Italy and Iceland.

Retegui grabbed both of Italy’s goals during the 2-1 victory over Venezuela at the Chase Stadium in Miami, United States.

Gudmundsson’s efforts keep Iceland’s hopes of qualifying for the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany alive. He will be in action again when Iceland face Ukraine in Euro ‘24 qualifying on Sunday evening.

Retegui, meanwhile, will still be in the United States with the Italy squad for Sunday’s friendly against Ecuador in New York.
