Genoa and Sampdoria supporters will not be permitted to attend their side’s next three away matches following violent clashes after the two sides met in the Coppa Italia second round on Wednesday night.

The confirmation of an away-day ban comes after the news that the upcoming match between Genoa and Juventus at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris will be played behind closed doors.

The latest update confirms that Sampdoria will also have to play their next home match in an empty stadium. Their next home clash will fall on October 4 against Juve Stabia in Serie B.

Around 38 people were injured, many of whom were police officers trying to disperse crowds, after full-time in the Derby della Lanterna on Wednesday night. Several arrests were also made in the aftermath.

After Friday’s update, Genoa fans will be banned from attending the home match against Juventus on Saturday, plus the away trips against Atalanta on October 5, Lazio on October 27 and Parma on November 4.

For Sampdoria fans, the same will be true for the next home match against Juve Stabia, plus away games against Modena on Sunday, Cesena on October 19 and Cittadella on October 29.
