Zakaria El Ouahdi declared this Sunday, August 3, 2025, from the Cegeka Arena, his intention to remain at KRC Genk. Despite ongoing transfer rumors, the Moroccan player says he's fully focused on the current season and has no plans to leave.
The 23-year-old right-back has been playing for Genk since 2023. With a contract running until 2028, he's attracted interest from several French clubs, including Olympique de Marseille and Stade Rennais. These clubs are considering him to fill potential gaps in their squads. However, the Moroccan reassured supporters that he has not received any concrete offers.
"I'm a Genk player, that's all I know. I'm not aware of anything else. I'm focused on my season here, and I feel good. My chances of staying? I'd say 99.9%. There's nothing concrete at the moment. Hearing the fans sing for me gives me tremendous confidence. That's also why I want to stay," Zakaria El Ouahdi publicly stated.
During the match against Antwerp on the second day of the Pro League (1-1), the player scored the equalizer and stood out with a powerful shot that was stopped by the opposing goalkeeper. Highly appreciated by the Limburg fans, Zakaria El Ouahdi is off to a strong start this season.
