Ante Rebic’s start to the season has been by no means simple, but now he is back he will be relied upon to carry AC Milan’s attack.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) notes, the Croatian had to skip the two Europa League qualification rounds and the play-off to serve an old suspension received when he was still at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Then he remained sidelined for a month after an elbow injury that he picked up against Crotone, and though Rebic has now been back on the pitch for a few weeks, only on Sunday in Naples did he play a starter.

Now that Ibrahimovic will be out for a few games, Rebic will have to play as the centre-forward and take the responsibility of being the main goal scorer once again.

This period without the Swede will be fundamental in the season, and the presence of Rebic is reassuring despite a slow start to the 2020-21 campaign. His goals are needed, and the fact he was the top scorer after a poor first half of last season are proof that the former Frankfurt man has what it takes.

The role of striker is not his favourite as he certainly feels best on the left wing, but in this moment of emergency the Rossoneri need to have an experienced player like Rebic as a point of reference.
