Premier League sides Arsenal and Chelsea both showed some serious interest in signing Ismael Bennacer from AC Milan during the summer transfer window, a report claims.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), there has been plenty of interest in Bennacer over the past few months and that is why Milan are in such a precarious position when it comes to his contract renewal.

The Rossoneri are willing to raise their current offer to €4.5 million per season according to this report, a sizeable raise on his current €1.7 million. He and his new agent, Enzo Raiola, could demand even more though.

Considering Milan are trying to sign Rafael Leao to a new expensive contract as well, Bennacer’s negotiation is causing a headache for Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara.

There are clearly plenty of other options available for Bennacer should he decide that he would like to leave Serie A.
