GdS: Pioli rejoices as Brahim Diaz shines and sends a strong message

Brahim Diaz’s performance against Udinese sent a message not only to doubters, but also to Stefano Pioli and two new summer recruits, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report how Brahim hadn’t scored since 25 September 2021 against Spezia, but during the 4-2 victory against Udinese he showed himself to be a real attacking midfielder.

There had been rumours that the Spaniard could have his loan terminated a year early, but Pioli backed him to come good despite the arrival of Charles De Ketelaere and Yacine Adli coming back from his loan.

Brahim had a hand in the equalising goal as his shot generated the rebound from which Davide Calabria was fouled, his movement created space for Ante Rebic to make it 2-1, he then took advantage of a mix-up at the back post to score a goal and make it 3-2 before serving Rebic an assist for the fourth.

Pioli can be very happy, because if things continue like this he will soon find a triptych of attacking midfielders with excellent technique and at the same time with different characteristics. The large number of games between now and mid-November will mean everyone gets playing time.

Brahim Diaz’s objective is to convince Milan to buy him from Real Madrid next summer because he wants to stay and prove he is worth a €22m investment, even if Los Blancos have a €27m buy-back. For now, however, these are premature discussions because the main focus must be achieving consistency.
