AC Milan just about edge it when it comes to having the most fans in Italy compared to their city rivals Inter, according to a report this morning.
La Gazzetta dello Sport have conducted an interview with Ipsos (as seen below) in which they asked them to draw up a map of supporters, to understand how they will be split when watching on the sofa, in the bar or at the stadium later on.
There are more Milan fans in Italy today than Inter fans as per the study, with 4,222,000 Milan supporters compared to 3,955,000 for Inter. They are the second and third clubs in Italy after Juventus, who have over 8 million.
Tonight Italy will be a country divided region by region, with the north of the country having a much higher red persuasion but the centre-south much more blue.
For example, in Sicily there are many more Interisti: 406,000 against 283,000. In Lombardy however – where the game tonight will take place – 55% of the fans support the Rossoneri.
It is clear that the Scudetto has changed things and that a few hundred young Milan supporters, without that error from Radu, would have gone for Inter.
For the moment, however, in Piedmont, Veneto, Trentino and Emilia Romagna there are more Milan fans, in Tuscany, Lazio, Campania, Puglia, Sicily there are more Inter fans.
