The recovery of Ismael Bennacer is the only positive for Paulo Fonseca when it comes to AC Milan’s injured players, regarding whom an update has arrived.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) reports that Bennacer will be on the bench against Roma tonight after being out for about three and a half months with a serious calf injury. Despite this, it is not enough to make Fonseca smile because unfortunately the treatment room is still full.

This is not good news in view of the Supercoppa Italiana in early January. The coach was convinced that Christian Pulisic would recover for the match against Roma, but the American was forced to stop again this time due to an ankle problem. The hope is that it is a minor issue and that he will soon return to full training.

The player who should definitely recover is Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who has got over the muscular problem he suffered a few weeks ago. The Englishman will miss the Roma match, but should be fine for the semi-final against Juventus on January 3.

Those who are still in serious doubt for the Supercoppa are Yunus Musah and Rafael Leao, also out with a muscle problem. Fonseca explained yesterday in a press conference that the American and the Portuguese are further behind than Loftus-Cheek, but there is still some hope of having them there.

Alessandro Florenzi and Noah Okafor will certainly be absent for the trip, while Luka Jovic is still to be evaluated. The Serbian is doing better though, so much so that he has been back training with the group for a few days now.
