AC Milan’s defensive department has been severely dented as they will be without two key players for a stretch of time, a report claims.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) confirm this morning that Davide Calabria underwent checks after the muscle injury sustained against Empoli which showed a proximal myotendinous lesion of the right hamstring, meaning he will have to stay out for around three months.
There is a break for the World Cup and therefore he will miss fewer games, while the Rossoneri hope to have him back on 4 January for the game at Salernitana, but it is a delicate issue because both muscles and tendons are involved and therefore the medical staff hope that there will be no further hitches.
It is a similar problem to the one that Alessandro Florenzi had, albeit less serious as the former Roma man needed surgery to fix the proximal hamstring tendon of his left thigh, which means he could be out until February.
Then there is Simon Kjaer, who was also injured on Saturday against Empoli as the Dane suffered a low-grade injury right hamstring and will be re-evaluated in a week. He will be out for two to three weeks so will miss the Chelsea-Juve-Chelsea trio and could return to face either Hellas Verona in Serie A or Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
