AC Milan were made to work very hard to beat Red Star in the Champions League on Wednesday night, and the mixed bag of ratings shows this.

Rafael Leao’s goal before the break looked to have put Milan in command, until Radonjic came off the bench and equalised in the second half. Three minutes before the end Tammy Abraham fired in a rebound to seal the win, but it was a far from convincing display.

Paulo Fonseca’s post-match comments are dominating the headlines this morning as he called out the players for not showing the right attitude.

La Gazzetta dello Sport’s ratings

You can read our player ratings from after the game to compare, while La Gazzetta dello Sport’s begin by giving the team’s overall performance a 6.5 out of 10, the same score as Fonseca’s management was given.

The best player on the field in the eyes of the paper was Rafael Leao who got a 7.5, while Yunus Musah was awarded a 5 after struggling and giving the ball away for the equaliser.

Tammy Abraham and Youssouf Fofana scored and assisted respectively which is reflected in their score of 7. Mike Maignan, Matteo Gabbia and Francesco Camarda were the only others to get praise (6.5).

Malick Thiaw, Tijjani Reijnders, Alvaro Morata and Samuel Chukwueze got a passing grade of 6. Davide Calabria, Theo Hernandez and Ruben Loftus-Cheek got half a mark less.
