The jeers at full-time said it all as AC Milan’s 125th anniversary celebrations were ruined by a disappointing 0-0 draw against Genoa.
If a reaction was expected after the loss to Atalanta and the post-match fury from Paulo Fonseca after the Red Star game, it was a reaction that didn’t come as Milan were slow and imprecise all night.
There were protests after the game aimed at the ownership and the management, while some fans were baffled by Fonseca praising the performance, all while the top four gets further away.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) has their ratings from the stalemate, starting with the overall team performance which was a 5.5 out of 10, while Paulo Fonseca’s management got a 5.
Alex Jimenez got his first league start and was the best player, receiving a score of 7. Samuel Chukwueze struggled the most and got a 5.
Tijjani Reijnders (7) and Matteo Gabbia (6.5) were the only other players to draw praise for the paper for doing their bit in creating and keeping a clean sheet respectively.
Then there is a sea of 6s: Mike Maignan, Emerson Royal, Malick Thiaw, Youssouf Fofana, Mattia Liberali and the substitute Francesco Camarda got a passing grade.
Rafael Leao, Tammy Abraham, Alvaro Morata and Noah Okafor were all handed a 5 as they really struggled to impact the game and/or missed big chances.
