AC Milan are involved in a transfer tug of war with FC Midtjylland over midfielder Raphael Onyedika and are evaluating an alternative target, a report claims.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Midtjylland are asking for €10m in order to sell the 21-year-old and the current absolute minimum seems to be around €8m as a fixed amount, whereas Milan are offering €4-5m.

As usual, bonuses could at least partially bring the two clubs closer but the decisive days are expected to be towards the end of the market when the parties will resume talks and understand if there is room to close.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have just over €5m left, because the €50m made available at the beginning of the market were largely absorbed by the purchase of Charles De Ketelaere, to which the permanent deals for Alessio Florenzi and Junior Messias must be added while not much liquidity came from the sales of Leo Duarte, Samu Castillejo and Alessandro Plizzari.

The small remaining budget has been allocated to the midfield, and that is why such a bid has been sent to Midtjylland. For now the words of the Danish club’s leadership (about wanting to keep the player) are just normal declarations.

In the background Jean Onana remains an option, as the 22-year-old from Bordeaux is available for a similar amount to that requested for Onyedika.
