GdS: Milan hoping ‘Tomori method’ is an example to follow – seven more renewals at stake | OneFootball

AC Milan are pushing ahead with what they reportedly call the ‘Tomori method’ both in terms of their recruitment but also their renewals.

La Gazzetta dello Sport recall how Tomori was signed permanently from Chelsea last summer for €28m after an impressive six-month loan spell and he signed a contract with the Rossoneri until 2025, but that deadline will soon be extended.

Tomori currently earns €2m net per season (which is around €2.8m in gross due to the Growth Decree) but he will soon go up to €3.5m per year and will extend until 2027. The final details must be resolved, and then an announcement will follow.

Milan are not resting there though, as they are also aiming to secure the long-term future of Pierre Kalulu. His current agreement is worth €600k per year and runs until 2025, with the Frenchman’s salary set to at least double.

Then, Rade Krunic is also very close to extending his deal as we reported last night, with the Bosnian regarded as a wild card that Stefano Pioli does not want to lose. He earns just over €1m net per year with a deal running until 2024, which will be extended with a pay rise.

Ismael Bennacer and Rafael Leao also have deals expiring in two years. Several times it has been written that Bennacer – who today receives €1.5m/yr – is close to renewing, but he is not there yet. His salary should be tripled but that would bring him close to the internal wage ceiling and as such bonuses could be key.

The salary cap, on the other hand, will be breached for Leao. There is always an exception to the rule and in this case the Portuguese winger should benefit from it, as he is considered a top player with Ballon d’Or potential. Negotiations with Jorge Mendes will not be easy though, especially with the Sporting CP case.

It will be less complicated however to find an agreement with Sandro Tonali. His salary was self-reduced to €1.2m last summer to facilitate his permanent move from Brescia, but he should net a big pay rise soon.

Later, finally, the fate of the veterans of the attack will be understood as Olivier Giroud and also Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contracts expire at the end of the season. Physical condition and motivations will be decisive for them.
