The AC Milan directors were present at Milanello today and spoke with the squad after the defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that the CEO Giorgio Furlani, the Senior Advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic and technical director Geoffrey Moncada were ‘very disappointed’ after the defeat in Croatian yesterday.
It has complicated the path from an on-field point of view and has created economic damage. Milan returned during the night, and now it is necessary to react in order not to lose the season, something we have heard several times before.
The leaders at Milan ‘did not at all appreciate the team’s performance in Zagreb’ and this morning they ‘will let the team know’. The loss in earnings from not getting a top eight spot amounts to over €15m, and this is something that will not have gone down well.
Ibrahimovic, Furlani and Moncada expected a different performance and now inevitably demand an immediate response in Sunday’s derby, so as not to see qualification for next season’s Champions League further away.
Milan seem to remain in a permanent state of fighting off crises and needing responses which has left fans tired, especially when the money-driven motives seem to take precedent over having a team to be proud of.
