AC Milan have turned to Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori having given up on Mohamed Simakan for now, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) reports that Milan have postponed their pursuit of Simakan due to his injury, which will keep him out for two months, and therefore they have turned to Tomori.

The paper claims that the negotiations are well underway with Chelsea and that contacts started weeks ago, with positive responses. Milan and the Premier League club have already reached an agreement in principle, based on a six-month loan.

The idea is not to focus on long-term Tomori right away, but to take him on a ‘trial’ basis, so that he can be evaluated between now and the end of the season.

The club wants to understand if Tomori deserves to stay beyond then, so in June he will be re-evaluated and Milan will then decide whether to discuss a permanent deal with Chelsea.
