GdS: Impressive attacking strength saves Milan in season opener vs. Udinese

AC Milan conceded two sloppy goals in their game against Udinese last night but still managed to come away with the win, bagging four goals themselves. A positive first round overall, in other words.

With the season starting earlier than usual due to the World Cup, no one was expecting fireworks from Milan last night. Given that they scored four goals, you could argue that we did get to see some anyway.

As highlighted by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), Milan did really well in the attacking phase. The protagonists were without a doubt Brahim Diaz and Ante Rebic, responsible for three goals and an assist between them, and they kept the high line up.

It was a positive display for both but especially Diaz, who really has struggled to leave his mark on the games (even a little in pre-season, unlike Rebic). The aggressiveness, as the newspaper points out, won the Rossoneri the game as Udinese simply couldn’t cope with the pressure.

Then, of course, the mistakes leading up to Udinese’s goals cannot be ignored and that is something Stefano Pioli must work on next week. But the attacking strength was enough to save him last night.
