AC Milan are in the phase of planning for the future and – while waiting for a new sporting director to be appointed – reflections are underway on the striker position.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have centred a report this morning around Santiago Gimenez, the big splash of the winter transfer window who scored three goals early on and then stopped. He has gone nearly two months without scoring, and seems to be third in the hierarchy at present.

There are doubts about Tammy Abraham and Luka Jovic too even if they have given their contributions in recent weeks. The Englishman is on a dry loan until the end of the season so negotiations with Roma would be needed, while the Serbian is on an expiring deal.

So, who could arrive to help Gimenez? The management have a close eye on Lorenzo Lucca, who has netted 12 goals in 33 games this season. He has the physique and characteristics that would be useful to the new Milan, beyond the playing style that will be instilled by the new coach.

He has a market value of just under €25m and there could be competition with Inter to land him, with the added bonus that he is a homegrown player. The club were also offered Jonathan David of Lille, whose deal expires, but he has very high costs in terms of commissions and salary.
