AC Milan are looking to bring in a new sporting director in the coming months and many names have been linked with them in recent days. According to a report, Gerry Cardinale and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have met three candidates in London.
The 2024-25 season has been a huge failure for the Rossoneri and one of the reasons for that, without a doubt, is the lack of an experienced sporting director. Furthermore, they one they had – Antonio D’Ottavio – fell out with the other directors.
According to today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan owner Cardinale and consultant Ibrahimovic have had meetings with candidates in London. More specifically, they have spoken to Andrea Berta, Fabio Paratici and Igli Tare.
However, it’s still too early to make a decision for a number of reasons. The Rossoneri have decided not to rush things as they have to get this appointment absolutely right, otherwise they risk struggling next season as well. Furthermore, CEO Giorgio Furlani must also deliver his verdict on the names, and more candidates could emerge.
Furlani is currently in New York and will have several meetings with Cardinale, including to discuss the sporting director decision. As such, the process is well underway and Milan might come to a decision soon, but it will not be rushed.
