AC Milan must soon make a decision on the future of Brahim Diaz given that his loan deal from Real Madrid expires in a few months.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes how the arrivals of Charles De Ketelaere and Yacine Adli over the summer made it seem like the playing time for Brahim Diaz could well be more limited than in the previous two seasons, but the Spaniard has become a key part of Stefano Pioli’s plans.

He has had the number 10 shirt but has not always played that role, often dropping deeper to be a mezzala or sometimes playing more on the right, thus creating a new tactical solution for Pioli which has borne fruit.

Brahim has already equaled last season’s goal tally, but the fear is that he could slow down as the campaign goes on, as happened last year. In six months – therefore in June 2023 – Brahim Diaz’s loan from Real Madrid will expire and a decision must come.

The loan cost €3m for the two-year period and to buy him outright it would cost €22m, but then Los Blancos have a buy-back which is set at €27m. Milan’s goal is to renegotiate and get a discount on the player.
