Rafael Leao reportedly left the ground just 15 minutes after full-time after his disappointing involvement during Milan’s 3-1 victory over Club Brugge in the Champions League on Tuesday night, but the Rossoneri are willing to stick by their highest-paid player through the tough times, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Leao was hooked after an hour of Milan’s 3-1 win over Club Brugge on Tuesday night. The team had conceded a few moments earlier, despite playing against 10 men, Milan then found the net almost immediately after Leao came off, with his replacement Noah Okafor providing the assist.
While Leao was visibly upset on the touchlines, he was still happy to celebrate with his teammates, particularly after 16-year-old Francesco Camarda scored a goal that was eventually ruled out for offside.
However, the Portugal international was the first Milan player to head down the tunnel immediately after the final whistle. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he gathered his things and left almost immediately, making his way out of San Siro just 15 minutes after the game had ended.
While there are reported tensions growing at Milan surrounding Leao, La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Milan are willing to do whatever they can to help him get back to his best.
The club have reportedly called on the help of coach Paulo Fonseca, but the club’s directors will not intervene with the coach’s tactical choices.
