Gazza wants Jamie Vardy at Rangers

Paul Gascoigne has stirred up the football conversation with a fiery proposal: he suggests that Rangers ought to recruit Jamie Vardy when the Leicester icon decides to leave the King Power Stadium. This isn’t mere fantasy football. Gascoigne believes that Rangers, his former club, should do all they can to enlist Jamie Vardy to lead their line once his time at Leicester is over. And why not? A player like Vardy, as Gascoigne rightly points out, would add a “serious amount of bang” to their attack. Vardy, after all, isn’t just a striker. He’s a hawk-eyed hunter of goals—sometimes on, sometimes off, the pitch.

Vardy Would Score Lots Of Goals If He Joined Rangers

Jamie Vardy is leaving Leicester City at the end of the season after 13 years at the club and Gazza feels he would be a great addition at Rangers if he chose to go there;

PG: “He’s been a brilliant servant to Leicester and when you see him playing, you wouldn’t think he’s that age. Vardy seems like the type of guy who’s got his head screwed on and I don’t think he has many problems. Rangers are a tough team to play for. They expect you to be winning every game. But I’m sure he’d score some goals up there. Easy, no problem. Especially because he’s still got that pace.”

But for the moment, let’s assume that Jamie Vardy’s contact with top-level football is about to wind down. That’s fine, as far as it goes. Experience counts for something, after all. Signing someone fresh out of the Premier League can’t hurt at a time when Rangers need every bit of momentum they can muster. And a Walkeresque “Let’s go to work” can-do attitude would fit right in with the determination and grit that the current squad has been showing in its effort to chase down silverware. If this is to be a final, headline-grabbing move in the twilight of Vardy’s career, why not make it happen at Ibrox?

So why not? Football is essentially about making your move before the opponent figures out what you’re doing. If you want to keep up, and especially if you want to pull away, you need to make the kinds of moves that Jamie Vardy exemplifies. And if you want to do that, why not go for the man himself, if you have the shot? After all, legends aren’t just the players we sing about in the stands. They’re the ones we still talk about long after they’ve hung up their boots and found a new field to play in.
