Gavi reveals which Barcelona youngster he has taken ‘under my wing’ | OneFootball

Barcelona star Gavi has taken on the role of mentor for an up-and-coming member of the club’s youth ranks.

That’s according to the Spaniard himself, who points towards Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernández as the player in question.

The name of youngster Dro has of course emerged as a prominent one in the headlines surrounding Barcelona over recent days.

This comes after the 17-year-old was afforded his senior debut in the colours of the Blaugrana, in the club’s pre-season opener against Vissel Kobe.

Not only that, but Dro went on to open his goalscoring account in the clash, courtesy of a brilliant volley from the edge of the penalty area.

As much comes after what was a stellar showing on the part of the versatile attacker in pre-season in Catalunya’s capital.

And one individual who is eager to see such growth continue over the weeks and months ahead is the aforementioned Gavi.

Drawn on his young teammate’s talents during an interview with RAC1 this week, Gavi explained:

“I hope Dro rises more, he’s an amazing talent and a great person. I give him a lot of advice because he’s under my wing here. I try to help him with everything, and I hope he continues working with the same mentality and gives his all in training.”
