Gary Rowett provides Millwall team news update ahead of Coventry City clash | OneFootball

Millwall prepare to host Coventry City in league action this weekend.

The Lions will be looking for a win having started their season with a home victory but then losing away to Cambridge in the EFL Cup and Sheffield United in the league last week.

Therefore, manager Gary Rowett will hope that being back at the Den can get them back to winning ways especially as they face a side who have failed to win so far this season.

On paper you would expect Millwall to do well in this game. However, the boss has provided an injury update which could make his side a bit thin on the ground.

Speaking to News at Den, the manager confirmed: “Lenny’s [Ryan Leonard] trained all week, so that was good. George Honeyman is back after suspension, that’s good.

“Murray Wallace got a bang to the knee which we’re just checking today [Thursday]. He didn’t train today, but we’re hoping that’s not too problematic. That’s one doubt leading into the weekend.

“[Tom] Bradshaw and [Zian] Flemming, it’ll be too soon for them this weekend. It’ll be next week, probably back-end of the week to see where they are. I don’t imagine that they’ll make a miraculous recovery to travel to Swanseas, so it’ll just be whether a couple more days gives one of them a chance.

“It’s probably unlikely, it’s more likely to be the week after.”

The Verdict:

Going into this game you would think that the favour would be on Millwall’s side given Coventry’s tough start to the season as well as having a home advantage.

However, Millwall have been unlucky to get a number of injuries early in the season and it seems as though three key players could be missing Saturday’s game.

There’s no reason why Rowett’s side can’t still get a result given he has quality players on his books throughout his team.

However, the boss will no doubt need to prepare for a tough game and setting his side up so they are able to grind out a result.
