Gareth Taylor has admitted he hopes to limit the incomings and outgoings at Manchester City during the transfer window, with three first team regulars currently set to be out of contract in the summer.

Lucy Bronze, Caroline Weir and Georgia Stanway are yet to sign new deals and are poised to be free agents in July, while City have been linked with moves for Atletico Madrid youngsters Deyna Castellanos and Laia Aleixandri.

City have successfully tied Lauren Hemp, Chloe Kelly and Esme Morgan down to new, long-term contracts over the past six months. With the trio all aged 24 or under, they will be vital for the club for years to come.

"Every summer is big, every summer is huge," Taylor said. "There's always going to be summer turnover, incomings, outgoings. I've always said if we can limit some of that I think we'll be in a much better place. I think you can already see teams that operate at a decent level are the ones that have less surgery in the summer.

"But at the end of the day, the game's the game and players have their ambitions or their lifestyle which may come into it. For us we're very at the front of trying to secure these players. But again, at the end of the day, players go and players come. We want players who want to be here."

Following a slow, injury hit start to the season, City ended the 2021/22 campaign with a piece of silverware and Champions League football, lifting the Continental Cup in March and finishing third in the WSL.

They signed off the season with a 3-2 extra time loss to Chelsea in a pulsating FA Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.
