Gareth Bale has heaped praise on Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham following his scintillating start to life in Spain. The former Real Madrid player has also advised Bellingham to not follow in his footsteps in terms of dealing with the media.

Since making his €103m switch from Dortmund to Madrid, Bellingham has seamlessly transitioned to his new surroundings, with 16 goal contributions in his first 14 matches. The midfielder also scored a stunning brace to win the most recent Clásico in La Liga.

As reported by Relevo, Bale has reflected on the 20-year-old’s brilliant start at Los Blancos.

He said: “He is doing very well and hopefully he will continue to do just as well.

“If he keeps working hard and doing what he’s doing, the sky’s the limit for him.

“His start at Madrid has been very good. Scoring goals is something very important in a club like Real Madrid.”

Bale, who won five Champions League titles with the Spanish giants, believes Bellingham needs to aim to please the media and control the environment if he wants to succeed at the club.

The Welshman added: “The biggest piece of advice I would give him is to play the Real Madrid game off the pitch. If you play that game and you don’t do what the media wants, that you talk to them and basically be a puppet, you’re going to take a lot of stick.

“So my advice is to play the Real Madrid game off the field. You have to talk after the games and try to do it in Spanish. Do that kind of thing.

“You will see them and they will act like Galacticos, doing what the press wants and playing the Madrid game. That’s probably where my downfall was. I just wanted to play soccer and go home and that got me attacked.”

Bale won sixteen trophies during his spell at the club including three La Liga’s, one Copa del Rey, one Spanish Super Cup, five Champions League, three European Super Cups and three Club World Cups.
