After winning three La Liga titles, five Champions League titles and 16 titles in total with Real Madrid, Gareth Bale is moving to Major League Soccer (MLS).

Bale has agreed to sign a one-year deal with LAFC that reportedly includes an 18-month option that, if exercised, would keep him in MLS until the 2024 season.

He will join LAFC on a free transfer and will not occupy a designated player spot, meaning his salary, paid for with allocation money will be less than €1.52m, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“I have to see what will give me the best chance of being fit in November,” Bale said after Wales booked their ticket to the 2022 World Cup. In Los Angeles, the 32-year-old will play in a league whose season ends on 9 October. The playoff final is on 5 November, 16 days before he will make his World Cup debut for Wales in Qatar against the United States.

The Welsh national team captain, who will turn 33 next month, spent the last eight seasons with Real Madrid, scoring 106 goals in 258 appearances for the club.
