PSG boss Christophe Galtier has played down any injury concerns around Kylian Mbappé and issued a response to his recent claims about his role.

The former Monaco man was absent from training on Thursday along with Lionel Messi and Marco Verratti but he insisted there is no cause for concern with those players.

“Verratti is suspended but he will train normally on Friday. Messi will also be back in training tomorrow because he needed a rest after travelling a lot,” he told the assembled media ahead of this weekend’s clash with Nice.

“Mbappé trained normally on Wednesday but this morning we decided to have him train individually indoors but he’ll also be back in training tomorrow.”

The PSG talisman courted some controversy recently when he remarked on how different his role is at PSG compared to the France national team – something his coach believes was a warranted sentiment and believes there was no malice intended.

“Mbappé doesn’t have less freedom at club level than he does with the national team but it is simply because it is a different system,” he added.

“He’s used in a different way because we don’t have a fixed focal point in attack like Olivier Giroud. So he is right to say that he is used differently at club level compared to the national side.

“We wanted to bring in a fourth attacking player this summer but it didn’t happen and that’s a shame. But I don’t think he has less freedom and his stats are great.”
