An already miserable season for AC Milan got even worse last night as they lost 2-1 to Inter, handing them the league title in the process.

As they so often do in derby games, Milan found themselves behind in the game early on through Francesco Acerbi’s header, then a Marcus Thuram strike started the celebrations. Fikayo Tomori’s late goal restored some hope, but it would prove to be just a consolation as Inter won 2-1.

Below is how the front pages in Italy look today…

Gazzetta dello Sport: “Inter up amongst the stars. They win the derby 2-1 and are champions. Joy and tears: the story of the 20th Scudetto. The work of the coach. The strength of the club.”

Corriere dello Sport: “Interstellar. Scudetto of the second star sealed in the derby: Milan beaten 2-1. With this title, courtesy of Inzaghi, the tricolore tally reaches 20. From Ausilio to Zhang, all the protagonists of a memorable cavalcade.”

Tuttosport: “Hats off. Final joy in the derby: stronger than anyone, Inter are Champions. Acerbi and Thuram seal victory to secure a superiority that was never in doubt. Tomori saves face for Milan, but not Pioli. Nerazzurri put the second star on their chests with 5 rounds to spare. Late brawls: Theo, Dumfries and Calabria sent off. Lautaro in tears, Inzaghi held aloft in triumph.”
