Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City players have resumed full training at the City Football Academy this week following a short period of sanctioned rest.

The UEFA Champions League qualification chasers and semi-finalists in this season’s FA Cup come into their latest contest off the back of a dull and drab 0-0 draw with rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend.

Neither side truly threatened each other’s goal in a game that ultimately saw Manchester City content with the avoidance of defeat; a strategy that infuriated some supporters online when discussing the affair.

Crystal Palace will be no easy task in the early Saturday lunchtime kick-off at the Etihad Stadium this weekend, as Oliver Glasner’s side have had a strong season as they have also reached the final four of the FA Cup.

Manchester City’s hopes of securing a place in Europe’s premier club competition next season were improved in midweek following Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Real Madrid, as that victory meant that the top five teams in the Premier League will now qualify for the Champions League.
