It was an emotional Saturday evening as AC Milan said goodbye to Stefano Pioli, Olivier Giroud and Simon Kjaer. As highlighted by today’s papers, there were both tears and hugs as the fans chanted at San Siro.

Giroud and Kjaer announced their departure at the start of the week, while Milan confirmed Pioli’s departure on Friday, and it thus made for a special game. The Frenchman managed to get on the scoresheet, while the Dane came off the bench for a few minutes.

The 3-3 draw was perhaps not ideal for Pioli, but at least he received the love of the fans after the game. He made it clear that he never will forget his Milan tenure, stating that ‘you put a fire in my heart’ during his speech on the pitch.
