The priority for January is a midfielder, with Denis Zakaria on top of Tiago Pinto’s list.
However, Roma are also looking for an additional center-back given Smalling’s unstable physical condition.
According to Il Romanista, the capital club are considering several names for the position. One of them being Galatasaray’s Marcao.
The 25-year-old has two years left on his contract with the Turkish club and has a price-tag of around €10 million.
The Turkish giants are reportedly open to negotiations.
Moreover, the player had already been linked with Roma in the past and expressed interest in joining the Giallorossi.
His agent, Ugo Garcia, is on good terms with Roma’s GM Tiago Pinto with whom he’s worked with at Benfica.
However, Marcao’s arrival in the capital would have to be preceded by an exit of at least one of the players excluded from Roma’s plans.
