The Villa Park outfit have prioritised going into the market for a central defender, with Axel Disasi heading back to Chelsea, and have identified multiple targets around Europe.

Aston Villa have been widely linked with Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera, but they have other players on their list they are chasing.

Bologna’s 26-year-old Lucumi is the latest name on their agenda, as they recently joined the race for the Colombia defender.

Lucumi, though, has a host of suitors around Europe, as Serie A giants Roma and Super Lig outfit Galatasaray have been keen.

The Turkish giants have now taken a very significant step in their pursuit of the Bologna star this summer.

According to Turkish daily Milliyet, the Cimbom have reached an agreement in personal terms with the 26-year-old.

It has been suggested that Lucumi has agreed to play on a €2.5m yearly salary for the Turkish champions.

Bologna will be in Europe next season, but Galatasaray are able to offer him Champions League football, which Aston Villa also cannot match.

Another Premier League club in the shape of Bournemouth are also in for the Colombian, but Galatasaray have positioned themselves in pole position now.

Cimbom are currently negotiating with the Serie A outfit for Lucumi in the hope of reaching an agreement soon.

It remains to be seen if the interested clubs, including the Villans, in the Colombian defender will make their moves to change his mind in the upcoming days and weeks.
