Galatasaray have reportedly pinpointed Nicola Zalewski as their main target for the left-back slot, thus putting their talks with Lazio for Luca Pellegrini on ice.
Turkish clubs can still sign players until September 13th, so the Istanbul-based giants have been lurking in the Italian capital. In recent days, Pellegrini emerged as one of their targets, with Lazio reportedly open to letting the Italian leave since he’s not considered a regular starter. The Biancocelesti would simply replace him by reinstating Elseid Hysaj who’s currently cast aside.
But according to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Galatasaray are now seeking another left-back who plies his trade in the Eternal City.
The Turkish giants have prioritized Zalewski who’s contract with Roma will expire at the end of the season. Therefore, the Giallorossi would be happy to offload him rather than lose his services for free at the end of the season. The 22-year-old currently earns €350,000, while Galatasaray have put €2 million plus bonuses on the table, a figure large enough to sway the Pole.
On the other hand, Pellegrini is now in the background, but the Turkish giants could revive their attempts to sign him in case they fail to secure Zalewski’s services. Nevertheless, the source notes that the 25-year-old’s contractual status represents another significant hurdle. Pellegrini is currently on loan from Juventus, while Lazio’s obligation to purchase him won’t come into effect until next year.
