Liverpool will travel to Etihad Stadium on Saturday, hoping to triumph over Manchester City in this weekend encounter after the international break comes to an end. The Reds suffered a disappointing 6-2 defeat in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 against Real Madrid, so they will need to be on top of their game to produce a better result against the Mancunian giants.

Jurgen Klopp will probably opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to name a strong playing XI for this contest. Cody Gakpo will lead the line down the middle while Alisson Becker operates in goal.

Defence

Alisson Becker will continue to feature in between the sticks for the Reds after keeping a clean sheet in his last league outing against Bournemouth before the international break. Ibrahima Konate will resume his defensive partnership with Virgil Van Dijk at the heart of Liverpool’s backline as they try to keep things solid at the back throughout the game.

Trent Alexander-Arnold will keep his place as the right-back while Andrew Robertson continues on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them need to carry most of the creative burden for the Reds from the wide areas.

Kostas Tsimikas and Joel Matip will be available for selection on the bench as they offer cover for the defensive positions.

Midfield

HarvFabinho and Jordan Henderson will anchor Liverpool’s midfield as they try to dominate the possession in the middle of the park. They will have to find a way to create more opportunities for their teammates in front of the goal.

Stefan Bejacetic will take a spot on the bench as he waits for the chance to make an impact in the second half if required.

Attack

Darwin Nunez will keep his place on the left wing while Mohamed Salah looks to make a difference from the right. Both of them need to stretch the opposition’s backline to provide support from the wide areas.

As mentioned earlier, Cody Gapko will lead the line down the middle for the Merseyside outfit as he fancies his chances of finding the back of the net. All of them will need to be on top of their game to find the back of the net to come out victorious from this Premier League contest.

Roberto Firmino will have to be content with a spot on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the final quarter if the Reds are in need of a goal by then.
