Gabriel Martinelli says he would welcome the addition of more attacking reinforcements at Arsenal this summer and hinted he will extend his stay at the club.

Martinelli joined Arsenal back in 2019 and has been a key part of the Gunners’ run to the Champions League semi-final this season.

But with just two years remaining on his deal, Martinelli suggested he is not planning on going anywhere.

“I mean, I always said that I’m really happy here,” he said ahead of Arsenal’s semi-final first leg clash with PSG.

“This is my home, I love to be here, I love the club. The club has given me so much, not just on the pitch but off the pitch as well. I’ve improved a lot with the club.

“Of course, on the pitch is important, but off the pitch as well. The club has been amazing with me, the people who work at the club, the fans and everything. Yeah, I’m really happy here.”

Arsenal were keen on adding a forward to the squad in January but were ultimately unable to.

But they are set to revisit that area of recruitment in the summer, though Martinelli says he is not worried about the increased competition it would bring.

“We play for Arsenal – it’s a competition every day,” he said.

“The club wants to have the best players in the world, because it is one of the biggest in the world as well. We are used to it.

“We are a big club. We need to have the best players. I will be really happy when we have big players coming to the team.”

Ahead of the match against PSG, Martinelli says these are the games he dreamed of playing in when he was growing up.

“It’s a dream to be here,” said Martinelli. “Since I started to play football, when I was five or six, I had this dream to be playing in the Champions League and to be in a semi-final is amazing.

“Everyone that loves football would love to be playing in these kinds of games. Everyone has to have their dreams. You dream to try to make it real.”
