Gabriel Jesus is reportedly ready to put contract negotiations on hold at Manchester City after turning down £90,000 a week.

The 20-year-old had looked like set to imminently sign fresh terms just before Christmas, but discussions did not progress as quickly as expected.

According to the Daily Mail, Jesus currently earns around £65,000 a week at the Etihad Stadium and remains in line to land an improved one-year extension until 2023.

It is still anticipated however that compromise will be reached and Jesus will commit his long-term future to the club.

City felt the Brazilian international deserved a new deal after his impressive start to life in England when they first proposed negotiations earlier this season.

That has not changed, even after Jesus missed six weeks with a knee injury sustained away at Crystal Palace on New Year’s Eve.
