Gabriel Jesus’ rumoured move to Arsenal looks to be edging ever closer.

The Brazilian striker looks set to swap Manchester City for north London with Mikel Arteta hoping to add some much sharper teeth to his front-line bite.

Having seen the old guard of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang exit through the Emirates revolving door, Arteta has been in the market for a new frontman.

Jesus has never quite crafted himself into a bona-fide starter at City, spending a lot of time on the periphery as Pep Guardiola constantly tinkered.

Should the move to Arsenal go through, Jesus will finally have the chance to prove himself as the first-choice striker at one of the Premier League‘s biggest clubs.

You can imagine he would be determined to do just that as well, and, if his history is anything to go by, a fiercely hard-working Jesus is exactly what the Gunners will be getting.

Jesus’ long and winding road to the English top flight has been a truly inspiring one, especially when you consider how far away that dream seemed as recently as 2014.

Ahead of the FIFA World Cup in 2014, due to be held in Brazil, Jesus was living in a high density neighbourhood, fantasising about playing for his beloved country one day.

In fact, photos he shared of himself and his friends decorating their local streets in the weeks building up to that 2014 global showpiece show just how far he has come.

In the images, a barefoot Jesus is seen painting the pavements in the iconic green and yellow colours of Brazil alongside some of his friends.

Three years later, Jesus would sign for Manchester City, taking his earnings, per The Sun, from £3,500 per year to £75,000 per week.

Now, he is on the brink of signing for yet another massive English institution and you’d like to think Arsenal will be offering him a pretty penny to do so.

If he can spark his performances to life on the pitch and get the goals rattling in for the Gunners, it could be a very happy relationship indeed.
