Arsenal will have a new number nine next season in the form of Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazilian striker has completed a £45 million move from Manchester City to the north London club, penning a five-year deal worth close to £200,000-a-week.

Mikel Arteta has landed the man he desperately wanted, the Arsenal boss having previously worked with Jesus at City when he was Pep Guardiola’s assistant.

Jesus has the potential to add a significant amount to the Gunners’ already talented forward line next season.

He’s versatile, scores and assists goals at a very healthy rate and gives 110% in every single game in which he plays.

With that in mind, we’ve decided to take a look at how Arsenal could line up in 2022/23 with Jesus in the starting XI.

We’ve settled on four different setups and each of them look pretty exciting on paper if you’re affiliated with the Gunners.

1. Arsenal’s best XI

Jesus, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli up top with Martin Odegaard in behind as creator-in-chief? Yeah, that’s something to be very, very excited about, Arsenal fans.

And the Gunners will also have Emile Smith Rowe and summer signing Fabio Vieira as attack-minded game changers from the bench. Not bad, not bad at all.

2. No Saka? No problem

Jesus was regularly deployed on the right-wing by Guardiola in 2021/22 and he certainly thrived in the role.

So if Arsenal are without Saka due to injury or suspension, their £45 million acquisition will be able to fill the sizeable void left by the Hale End graduate – something Nicolas Pepe was never able to do.

3. An exciting 4-4-2

In the event that Arsenal are unable to field either Odegaard or Vieira as a number 10, Arteta can switch to a 4-4-2 formation that may just strike fear into the opposition.

Jesus and Eddie Nketiah – who recently signed a new contract – are both brilliant at pressing from the front and scoring goals, while Saka and Martinelli are already two of the best wingers in the Premier League. Sounds like a pretty good mix, doesn’t it?

4. Ultra attacking

Arteta experimented with this 4-3-3 setup (which is similar to City’s) at times last season, with Alexandre Lacazette the man leading the line. It didn’t work with the Frenchman, but it may just do with the energetic Jesus in his place.

Although, Jesus won’t have the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva around him at the Emirates Stadium, so he may have to step it up a gear…
