Gabriel Jesus insists Manchester City are still capable of winning the Premier League despite falling nine points adrift of leaders Liverpool.

The Premier League champions saw the gap to the top extend with defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s side at Anfield last weekend, Man City falling to fourth following their third league defeat of the campaign.

Despite the deficit, Jesus is confident the champions can still recover to retain their title and says his side will continue fighting with plenty of football left to play this season.

“There are 26 matches left and that’s a long way out even to think who will win the Premier League,” said the Brazil striker.

“Liverpool are playing really well. They were beaten only once last season, but we will take them on and keep fighting for the title again.

“We will try to do our maximum and we will recover. We know we have the capacity to do this. Obviously, we want to win the championship.”

Pep Guardiola’s side will want to bounce back immediately when they face top four rivals Chelsea in a huge clash at the Etihad following the international break. The two sides meet on November 23, Frank Lampard’s currently sitting just one place and one point above City.
