Things seem to be improving at FC Barcelona, at least on the pitch, as the Catalans won their last two matches, and gained highly valuable six points. But in addition to these points, another feature that would have excited Cules a lot is the scoring form that Vitor Roque displayed.

The Brazilian striker’s goals give hope to Barcelona fans that things might improve in the second half of the season, especially as Robert Lewandowski has not had a season to remember.

The Pole’s form had dipped so much that at one point, the fans questioned why Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was not signed when the Catalans had the chance to do so.

As things stand, the Gabonese striker himself does not know why Barcelona did not sign him, as he claimed in a recent interview which has been reported by Mundo Deportivo. The striker acknowledged the love and support from Barcelona fans and said:

“I am very grateful for the affection I received from everyone, from the fans and all. I still receive messages from fans who miss me.”

“I think they did talk a little about it but in the end, it didn’t happen, I don’t know why but that’s life, it’s like that, I wanted to return with all my heart because I am very proud of the eight months I spent here, it was incredible and I wanted to come back.”

While he is not a part of this Barcelona, the Gabonese is still hopeful that the Catalans can win an important piece of silverware:

“The season hasn’t ended yet, there’s still the Champions League as well, we’ve suffered a bit but we have to give everything to win something this year.”

Aubameyang also praised Xavi for both his abilities as a coach and as a human being: “I think he is a very good coach and as a person, he is a great person. We have to trust him and he will give everything before leaving.”

However, as the Barcelona head coach has announced to leave the club at the end of the season, the striker also gave his nod of approval to one of the coaches who can replace Xavi, i.e., Jurgen Klopp:

“If there is the possibility, it would be incredible for Barça because he is a coach who will give you everything, he will give you energy and he is a great coach who has won many things.”

Returning to the subject of his association with Barcelona, the former Chelsea star explained why playing in Spain meant a lot to him:

“It was always my dream to play in Spain because my grandparents were from there and I wanted to play there and I told them that one day I would achieve it, in the end, it was at Barça and the city and everything was incredible, people were always very happy with me and I had a great time.”

Aubameyang also explained why he had to leave the club despite a spectacular stint at Barcelona:

Yes, in the end, it was an economic problem, Barça needed an option to sell a player and I had this option. That’s why I left. If it hadn’t been like that, I think I could have stayed a few more years. I have no reproaches. That’s life, in the end, we spent little time but very good and the most important thing is the memory.”
